The Projects
help change lives with the nepal impact marathon
“Running the Nepal Marathon with Street Child and being part of the Street Child community was the best of both worlds - not only did we visit the Impact projects but we also had the unique opportunity to see first-hand the difference our fundraising is making.”
At Street Child we believe that every child deserves an education. We work in some of the hardest to reach places to ensure that children can go to school. You’ll become part of our vision to give every child a chance.
As part of your trip you’ll see Street Child’s work first-hand, ranging from rebuilding schools in communities worst affected by the 2015 earthquake to providing education to marginalised children who have never had the chance to go to school. You’ll get to meet the children you’re fundraising to help and hear their stories.
How you can make an impact
We ask all Street Child runners to fundraise a minimum of £1,000 to support our work helping children to go to school.
In 2016, Street Child runners from across Europe visited projects including the inspiring Kopila Nepa School in the brick factories of Bhaktapur, built to help the children of migrant workers to access education. The funds they raised have helped make it possible to open a brand new school at another brick factory in Bhaktapur, giving children who were out of school hope for the future.
Our research shows that 66% of children living in brick kilns have never been to school. Their parents migrate from India and South Nepal for the six month brick season during which time the children live in dangerous conditions, are exposed to labour and are out of school. With support from runners like you, we can help these children to access education and have hope for the future.
