This is more than a marathon
The Nepal Impact Marathon takes place from 13th - 19th November. The Impact Marathon Athletes' Village will be your home for the week. Possibly one of the world's most breathtaking campsites. You'll rise each morning to behold the beautiful Himalayan mountain range. Our campfire will serve as a melting pot of stories and connections to bring 200 runners together as one.
Running with Street Child will give you 24hr support from our in-country team, unique opportunities to collaborate with our local programme staff and visit rural schools. What’s more you’ll be part of a community fundraising together to support some of the most vulnerable children in Nepal.
Day 1: discover Kathmandu
Meet in the vibrant city of Kathmandu, where you will be staying the first night of your adventure. After your flight arrives in the afternoon, you’ll be whisked to your hotel. Here you’ll get to know your fellow travellers whilst enjoying an evening of amazing Nepali food and start learning more of what you'll be experiencing this week.
Day 2: see your impact first-hand
Spend a full day visiting projects and meeting the people your fundraising supports. This is a great chance to see the difference you are making first-hand. In the evening you'll travel up to the stunning Athletes' Village where you'll spending your days living with the community.
Day 3: take in the sunrise
Wake up to watch the breath-taking sunrise over the Himalayas. The morning Yoga session is one of the highlights of the trip, simply unmissable. For those wanting to get a feel for the terrain, you'll have a chance to head out on a training run. In the afternoon, you'll be working on projects helping to bring about positive change in local communities.
Day 4: Visit Street Child projects
As a Street Child runner you'll be able to explore more of the stunning scenery of Nepal. A bumpy bus ride through the gorgeous rolling valleys of Nuwakot in 2016 took our team of Street Child runners to paint a new school in Bidur that had recently been re-built after the devastating earthquake in 2015. We finish the day celebrating with a drink or two at our Sunset Bar.
Day 5: Unwind before the big race
You have a big day tomorrow so time to unwind. We will have some mini-lectures and workshops around the themes of the week and your time in Nepal. We'll also create our pop-up cinema so you can watch the story of Nepal's most famous athlete, the amazing Mira Rai. Overall though, this is your day. Head into the village to buy some lunch, relax with your fellow competitors. In the evening will be the famous pasta party in preparation for race day.
Day 6: Race Day
The moment has come. Start line, time to run together, as a community in one of the world’s most outstanding location. The magic of race day: 2000m of climbing; 42km of running and 25 buckets of sweating awaits you. But get ready for a remarkable finish line moment as you take the final steps of the hardest race of your life. And at that finish line, we’ll have one ridiculous party with special appearances from the most famous bands in all of Nepal. Party into the night, you deserve it...
Day 7: Explore Nepal
The race is over and you have the usual aches and pains to remind you. To take your mind off it, Impact Marathon have some incredible experiences that show you the very best that Nepal has to offer. Check them out here.
